Ever wondered exactly how Beachbody Performance Energize Pre-Workout can help you make the most out of your workout?
To measure the effects of Energize on exercise performance and perceived effort, we teamed up with sports nutrition experts at the University of Exeter in England.
Beachbody Performance Energize Pre-Workout Study
We asked study participants to drink Energize or a placebo (a drink that looked and tasted just like Energize but did not contain caffeine, beta-alanine or quercetin).**
Thirty minutes later, we asked them to complete a 45-minute cycling sweat session. We set the intensity during the first 30 minutes of the workout while we asked participants to rate how hard they felt they were working.
Then, we asked them to exercise as hard they could for 15 minutes, and we measured their exercise intensity (how hard they were able to work).
**The Energize study was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study. For more details on how the study was conducted, scroll to the bottom of the page.
Beachbody Performance Energize Study Findings
Study participants reported that exercise felt easier when they drank two scoops of Energize 30 minutes before a 30-minute steady-state bike ride compared to when they drank the placebo.
And, when asked to cycle as hard as they could, study participants were able to work out harder (at a higher intensity) when they drank two scoops of Energize compared to when they drank placebo.
Bottom line: Drink up! Energize can help make working out feel easier and help improve exercise performance.*

**The Energize study was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study.
Here’s what that means and why it’s important:
Placebo-controlled: This means that we tested the effects of Energize against a placebo supplement that looked and tasted like the real thing, but lacked the active ingredients of Energize.
Randomized and double-blind: The drinks were tested in random order — some participants received the placebo first, while others received Energize first. Neither the participants nor the researchers knew which drink was administered until the study was over.
Crossover: We tested Energize and the placebo in the same study participants on different days.
The goal of following these guidelines when conducting a study is to eliminate potential bias or errors.
