Guiding You to Your Optimum Quality of Life

Do You Share the Outrage?

I am about to go on a rampage of outrage because of the state of this country right now and we are all in some way responsible. If you don’t think that the fate of this country is in our hands, then think again.

Here are some statistics that speak volumes about the health of our country and may have something to do with our credit rating being downgraded by Standard & Poors. Look at this chart so see health care spending as a percentage of gross domestic product – http://www.rwjf.org/pr/product.jsp?id=45110. Healthcare spending in the U.S. rose an estimated 5.7 percent to $2.5 trillion in 2009

We are ranked 36th in the world in life expectancy, tied with Cuba and Denmark. We used to be 27th, right behind Cuba – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy

We are also the most obese country in the world – http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/hea_obe-health-obesity

Childhood obesity in the US has more than tripled in the past 30 years. The prevalence of obesity among children aged 6 to 11 years increased from 6.5% in 1980 to 19.6% in 2008. The prevalence of obesity among adolescents aged 12 to 19 years increased from 5.0% to 18.1%

At the rate that we are going, obese, unhealthy people are going to be making laws soon that will benefit them and so they can take pills to feel better instead of working out and eating right. Do you think that the drug companies would lobby in favor of that? They sure will…
