A lot of Internet sites have been featuring an ad on their homepages for a $2.99 Deluxe Meal and I was so lured to the idea of getting a deluxe meal for $2.99 that I had to click on it.
The meal comes in two versions, the Double Junior Cheeseburger Deluxe and the Crispy Chicken Deluxe. With either meal, you get small fries and a small Coke. Not only do you get a full meal, but you get a substantial meal that is complete in terms of protein, carbohydrates and fat. Let’s see how that breaks down.
In the Cheeseburger Deluxe meal, you get:
890 calories
330 calories from fat
36 grams of fat (12 grams are saturated fat)
1160 milligrams of sodium
117 grams of carbohydrates
28 grams of protein
6 grams of fiber
52 grams of sugar (13 teaspoons)
For chicken lovers, you get:
960 calories
370 calories from fat
41 grams of fat (10 grams are saturated fat)
1430 milligrams of sodium
127 grams of carbohydrates
25 grams of protein
6 grams of fiber
51 grams of sugar
As you can see, when you decide to get a Deluxe Meal, it isn’t easy. Do you go for the taste of the burger or the additional calories, fat and sodium in the chicken sandwich.
