After looking through a bunch of Shakeology energy balls recipes, I finally found one that I had most of the ingredients for. Instead of leaving a carbon footprint and going to the store, I decided to wing it and make up my own recipe. It has four ingredients and you may have them on hand. I am freezing them and taking them on my runs in a baggie so that I don’t have to touch them when they are defrosted. In the future, I may roll them in flax meal so that they are dry on the outside.
Shakeology Energy Balls Ingredients
1 ripe banana (not shown)
1 scoop of Chocolate Shakeology
3/4 peanut butter (or other nut butter)
1 cup old fashioned oats
How I made them
I mashed the ripe banana thoroughly
I added the peanut butter (I didn’t measure but it looked like 1/2 – 3/4 cup)
I added the 1 scoop of Chocolate Shakeology and mixed everything thoroughly
I added the 1 cup of old fashioned oat meal and mixed until blended
I used the fork to pick up enough to make into a ball, placed them on the plate and then put the plate in the freezer.
Makes about a dozen or so.
Update: I’ve used them on my trail runs multiple times and they work great. They aren’t messy and the ingredients provide that period boost of energy during the run. To learn more about Shakeology and how you can use it in other recipes, click here.
