You can look at the health of our nation
from many different perspectives - moral, political, financial, to name just a
few - but whichever you choose, a good case could be made that we have more
than our fair share of problems to deal with.
As for moral, I live by a high moral
standard and hope that I set a good example.
As for political, well, I was a Political
Science major at Rutgers so I know a lot about the subject, but I personally
stay out of any conversations about politics. We have elected officials who
will in due time have to answer, as we all do, to a Higher Power for their
words and actions.
The physical health of our nation is
something that deeply concerns me. If we are friends on
Facebook or
you follow me on Twitter, you know that I am outspoken about how we are all
responsible for the financial health of our nation because our actions, or lack
thereof, all contribute to the financial burden that is placed on our nation's
financial resources.
I am a staunch advocate of healthy living
and making positive lifestyle choices because the cost of health care in this
country is staggering. For that very reason, I keep seeking every day for
people to follow me on a path on which regular exercise, eating nutritiously
and making every effort to optimize our quality of life are the only choices
that we should be making.
Being healthy is far cheaper than being
unhealthy. Preventative medicine, of which exercise and diet are key parts, is
so much more cost effective than health insurance. We pay exorbitant amounts of
money so that when we or someone else gets sick, we can share the costs. But
when that someone else could care less about the way that they live or the way
that they eat and they get sick all of the time, that just plain hurts our
collective financial situations.
I cannot do much about where other people
want to lead us and the paths that they want to take us down except to keep
seeking with a louder and louder voice, those who will follow the sensible and
healthy path in life and reap its rewards.
My Dad was a father and he taught me to be
independent. I have always been a leader and not a follower. I believe that
most of you were born to lead and grew up wanting to lead a good life. The
question is, what is the "good" life that you want and were born to lead?
Sincerely,
