101 Worst Foods To Eat
From
eDiets - The online diet, fitness, and healthy living resource
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to spot a
truly worst food... not when the high fat, high calories concoction is on the
end of your fork and heading for your gaping mouth... or when it is staring you
in the eye from the shelf at the local market.
Yet even though few of us are that clueless to
fall for a worst food choice, it never hurts to be reminded of the many
lunchable landmines that litter the road to lower weight and better health.
While making a pit stop recently at one of
those "we sell anything we can cram in here" gas stations, I was lulled into
buying what looked to my hungry eye like a small bag of Cracker Jack. This
99-cent special was a buttered toffee type that was obviously created by the
evil geniuses at Cracker Jack to take a bite out of the Fiddle Faddle and
Crunch 'n Munch sales.
My wife was driving and I was happily
kicked back in the passenger seat and munching on the "good stuff" when I
turned over the bag and gave the nutritional label a closer scan. A serving of
Cracker Jack weighs in at 120 calories and 23 grams of carbs. The bag I held so
easily in one hand happened to hold 3.5 servings.
In a flash, I was transported back to the
days of bubblegum music... the days of my sweet childhood memories... the days
of The Archies... Ah, sugar... dut dut dut dut dut duh... oh, honey,
honey... you are my candy girl and ya got me wanting you...
Whatta jughead I was to fall for such a
high-sugar, no value snack.
In honor of my gas station gaffe, I
dedicate today's column to the time -- not to mention calories and fat -- we
have wasted on the way to better health and better-looking bodies.
I know many of you will read the list of
101 of the Worst Foods, shake your head, and mutter, "Mr. Bad Food's done gone
and lost it... the sugar and fat have corroded his cranium..."
Yes, the foods mentioned here are easy to
spot. But please consider this list as a gentle reminder that there are many,
many bad foods lurking out there (most seem to be found clogging highway

mini-mart's thickening hip). Your new mantra should be: read labels, know
