A Journey of a Thousand
Workouts...
Begins with a
single drop of sweat!
Lao-tzu, the
Chinese philosopher (604 BC - 531 BC) wrote in "The Way of Lao-tzu" that , "A
journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
Five years ago, on
March 25th, I started my workout journey with P90X with a single drop of sweat.
Sometime in the next 8 or 9 days, I will have completed 1,000 workouts in the
SuperGym ranging from P90X to Insanity to Chalean to running and more recently,
hiking with my 7 year old daughter Grace up in the mountains.
That's a lot of
sweat, but what did I get for it? A fit and healthy body. I've maintained my
ideal weight. The ability to do things that a lot of men half my age can't do
today. I've become a positive role model and example to my children. I have
made a career out of sharing the benefits of health and fitness. All from that
single drop of sweat from doing Kenpo X on March 25th 2007 (yes, I just took a
DVD out and started doing it. I didn't read the manual or follow the guide, but
then I realized that there was a way better plan than mine!)
Can I Tell You A Secret?
If I tell you a
secret then it won't be a secret anymore. But I have to. In last week's
newsletter, "Fitness,
Simplified" I asked for 5 people to join a Challenge Group so that we could
all work together, support each other, keep each other accountable and reach
our goals together.
I created the
Facebook group "Challenge To Change 2012" (a "secret" group), people responded,
and it has been wonderful meeting new people and sharing our fitness journey
together. Yesterday, I asked the group if we could add new people and they
overwhelmingly said yes.
So I am going to
ask again and this time not put a limit on the size of the group. We share
successes and failures, confidence and fears, tips, advice, resources, but most
of all a common bond that we are going to succeed in reaching our goals by
working together - no matter what.
I want you to join
the Challenge To Change 2012 and the way to do that is to simply send me an
email at howtobefit@aol.com.
You have to have a Facebook account to be in the group and that is the only
requirement.
March is National Nutrition
Month!

In Closing...
I guess that I
could accurately say that I am a "gym rat" even though I never go to the gym to
work out. I may go out the door to run or hike, but most of the time I don't
have to go anywhere except to my home gym. I hope that all of you will join me
for my 1000th workout in the SuperGym. I am sending all of you an invitation to
sweat with me on that day! |
