There\u2019s never any stopping at lights or coasting through corners, you pedal literally the entire time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That makes indoor cycling perfect for midday or before-work workouts.<\/p>\n<p>Its benefits include a safe and convenient workout that can efficiently hit your fitness goals no matter how crazy your schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Stetina points to the scheduling benefit of indoor cycling \u201cif your work demands that you exercise after daylight hours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>(Is that motivation we hear tapping on the door?)<\/p>\n<p>And there\u2019s more \u2014 retired pro cyclist and 10-time U.S. national champion\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bahatifoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rahsaan Bahati<\/a>\u00a0sums up the key benefit: safety.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRiding indoors allows you to build up the strength and personal knowledge of what your skillset can handle before setting up outside in the real world,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>If that\u2019s not enough, Bahati throws this cherry on top: \u201cIndoor cycling allows you to save time, yet get the training and exercise you desire in the comfort of your own dwelling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other differences between riding indoors versus on the road? It eliminates the hazards and discomforts of bad weather.<\/p>\n<p>Cycling indoors has lots of options to help you get fit.<\/p>\n<p>First, decide whether you want to train at home, in a gym, solo, or with a group. Each has pluses and minuses, so find out what works for you.<\/p>\n<p>Some find home calming, whereas more extroverted people may prefer the gym or a cycling studio.<\/p>\n<p>Sign up for a trial period at a gym or borrow a friend\u2019s indoor trainer before committing.<\/p>\n<h2>What Can You Expect From an Indoor Cycling Class?<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com\/beachbody-blog\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Indoor-Cycling.600.class.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-138121 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com\/beachbody-blog\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Indoor-Cycling.600.class.jpg\" alt=\"Indoor cycling class\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndoor cycling classes will provide you with coaching, camaraderie, some competition, and fun,\u201d says Los Angeles-based personal trainer, Ironman competitor, and former competitive figure skater Kristie Fox. \u201cAnd a whole lot of burn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Online group cycling via an app or streaming service can provide an even bigger dose of motivation, whereas solo training may appeal to the \u201cmy pace\u201d types.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, says Fox, \u201cthe key is consistency. Start small, build slowly. If you\u2019re doing two-hour sessions from the gun, you\u2019re likely overdoing it. Make it a journey, not a target.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Can you do it daily?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes,\u201d says Fox, \u201cbut always listen to your body. Injuries, work, exhaustion, and stress can always justify taking time off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Next, Fox suggests building a realistic plan that fits your schedule.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndoor cycling lets you mold the activity to your calendar, something you can\u2019t do with surfing, say, or ice skating. Is your golden time 5 A.M.? 10 P.M.?
