You Can\u2019t Out-Train a Bad Diet<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cNo matter how much you move around, if you eat too many calories, it\u2019s too difficult to outrun,\u201d says\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/enduringfitness4u.com\/\">Lisa Harris<\/a>, a registered dietitian based in Temecula, CA.<\/p>\n<p>In 30 minutes of brisk walking, for example, a 160-pound person will\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/caloriecontrol.org\/healthy-weight-tool-kit\/get-moving-calculator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">burn around 145 calories<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But you can easily consume that many calories in a matter of minutes (or even seconds \u2014 we\u2019re looking at you, half-empty sleeve of cookies).<\/p>\n<p>Make no mistake, you\u2019re still doing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.beachbodyondemand.com\/blog\/benefits-of-running?referringrepid=1393\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">great things for your body<\/a>\u00a0by exercising \u2014 but you need to be mindful about what you\u2019re eating, too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExercise and training only go so far when you\u2019re not supporting them with a healthy diet,\u201d Majestic says.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com\/beachbody-blog\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Why-Its-Important-to-Eat-Healthy.600.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-130520 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com\/beachbody-blog\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Why-Its-Important-to-Eat-Healthy.600.jpg\" alt=\"Clean up your diet\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>2. You\u2019ll Learn to Fuel Your Body Properly<\/h3>\n<p>Many people assume that a \u201chealthy eating plan\u201d just means cutting calories, says\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.camelbacknutritionwellness.com\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kristen Carli<\/a>, a registered dietitian nutritionist in Scottsdale, AZ.<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s important that the calories you consume are coming from high-quality, nutrient-dense foods \u2014 otherwise, you may lose weight and still not be \u201chealthy,\u201d Carli adds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProper nutrition is fuel to the body much like gasoline to a car,\u201d says Lisa Moskovitz, R.D., C.D.N., and CEO of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nynutritiongroup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Nutrition Group<\/a>. \u201cSure, you can get that fuel from any calories you consume \u2014 however, the quality, sustainability, and effectiveness of that fuel will definitely depend on the quality of foods you live on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For example, for around 300 calories, you could eat half of a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fdc.nal.usda.gov\/fdc-app.html#\/food-details\/784728\/nutrients\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">large bakery muffin<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 or a slice of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fdc.nal.usda.gov\/fdc-app.html#\/food-details\/784596\/nutrients\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">whole-wheat toast<\/a>\u00a0with a tablespoon of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fdc.nal.usda.gov\/fdc-app.html#\/food-details\/784416\/nutrients\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">peanut butter<\/a>\u00a0and an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fdc.nal.usda.gov\/fdc-app.html#\/food-details\/786559\/nutrients\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">orange<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One of these choices is going to be packed with much more nutrition and energy than the other, providing you the fuel you need to go about your day.<\/p>\n<h3>3. It\u2019s Not All About Weight<\/h3>\n<p>Nutrition is a key factor in weight loss, but that shouldn\u2019t be your only motivation for eating healthy.
