Why Wait?
It is hard to
think about today when so many people are suffering along the East Coast and
bracing for another winter storm. Amidst all of their suffering, I am sure that
many will take the time to vote, but our hearts today as we head to the polls
must still be with them.
There will be an
outcome today of the voting that will make just as many happy as it does sad,
apparently, because of the closeness of the race. But we don't need to wait for
tomorrow to start moving our lives forward today. Why wait? Today is the day to
start all of the new beginnings, new challenges, find new solutions and renew
our focus on solving problems.
The East Coast
will eventually recover and be better than ever if we focus on far sighted
solutions. The tragedy is a learning experience as always and provides enormous
opportunities for positive change. Perhaps all of the areas along our
coastlines should be suppliers of solar and wind energy for the rest of the
nation. When power is lost to so many homes and businesses because power lines
are down, perhaps instead they should be relying on solar and wind power to
keep their homes warm and lit and for businesses like gas stations to be able
to pump their fuel.
Facing Our Own Challenges
In this
newsletter, I am going to ask you to be far sighted in your planning. I am
asking you, "why wait" if you need to lose weight or get in shape or overcome
some lifestyle challenge that is keeping you from being successful in more
aspects of your life. In personal terms, I was waiting for a P90X challenge to
start to support Jon Cogdon in his comeback from a serious illness. Then I
thought, why wait? Life is too short and too uncertain and unpredictable to put
things off until tomorrow. Little could have been done differently in the face
of Hurricane Sandy using our traditional energy sources and dependence on non
renewable energy sources. But something can be done to make future disasters
less devastating. Can you imagine, and forgive me if you are one of the
victims, all of the millions of people who are still without power as more
rains, winds and cold temperatures approach?
Is Your "Why" Big Enough to Make
You Cry?
If it is, why
wait. I started my "challenge to change" yesterday (at my age, I need a head
start to keep being in the lead for awhile before you all overtake me). Our
Team Lean
Challenge To Change Facebook group is ready for all of you to join and
start changing your lives. My 90 day challenge is to do a P90X+/running hybrid
and many of you have already gotten invitations to work out this week.
On the
Team
Lean Challenge To Change message board thread, I am posting my
accountability - my successes, struggles, challenges and accomplishments.
I ask all
of you to join me in the Facebook group and to
post
on the message board thread. Natural disasters are an act of Mother Nature.
Disasters that we cause in our own lives from neglect and waiting too long to
act are in our control!
Annie and Alli Accepted the
Challenge to Change
Annie and Alli
made choices and didn't wait any longer to make those choices become reality.
They set goals, committed to achieving those goals and challenged themselves to
get started. Below are excerpts from their stories:
"With the help of
her ChaLEAN Extreme Challenge Group and Shakeology, Annie dropped 35 pounds,
won $1,000 in the
Beachbody
Challenge, and transformed her entire life. All this from a mom who had
gained 153 pounds over the course of 3 pregnancies, watched her youngest
daughter undergo open heart surgery and once depended on Social Security
Disability checks to make ends meet. 'Giving up on myself was common. I had
tried P90X twice and TurboFire once before I joined my Challenge Group and quit
each time within 2 days. I distinctly remember sitting on my couch watching
TurboFire and thinking, I can't do this.'" Below are Annie's before and after
photos and you can

Alli Had to Find Her Why
Alli's story is
also one of "why wait". She hit rock bottom in 2010 and was broke, confused and
on the verge of homelessness.
Between my student
loans, credit card bills and my car, I was $100,000 in debt, says Alli. On top
of her personal debt, Allis family was in financial ruins (her Dad was a custom
home builder whose business was ruined when the housing market crashed). Mom
and Dad didn't even have enough money to file for bankruptcy. To avoid being
homeless, Alli lived with friends for over a year.
Finding a job
wasn't her problem. In fact, she was working 5 jobs simultaneously but still
couldn't break free from debt. Even after signing up as a Team Beachbody Coach
(her fifth job), she didn't find success right away.
It wasn't until
Alli discovered her Why, that she was able to rise above the chaos
and reap the rewards. That process took her three and a half years.
With the
help of Beachbody Regional Sales Director, Jeremy Redd, I finally learned that
your WHY has to make tears come of our your eyes. You have to be that
passionate about it.
Alli realized that
she had a two-part Why. To help her family rise out of debt and
despairand to help everyone else after that. Her true WHY was helping
others. And help she did. To find out what it was,
