Now What?
Isn't it amazing how a
few words can change your day or your week or your life sometimes?
A few words from two
different people had just that impact on me over the last two days. First, a
fellow coach "caught" me making excuses and that stung a little (okay, a lot).
I've had relentless health issues over the last six months and I made the
comment that how could I lead a Beachbody Challenge group if I wasn't able to
work out. This was her response, "You have always put in your dues and you are
sick right now. You work tirelessly providing information and opportunity for
your team. It IS important for you to go for achieving things like a cruise to
show your team that is is doable. Your personal achievement matters, Rich. As
far as these challenge groups go, set a couple up! You have done the workouts
before and you do not have to do them yourself right now. Just guide your group
and give them that personal attention as only you can. They will be lucky to
have you and I am sure your groups will have excellent results!"
Bummer, I got called out
for trying to make excuses and now I am taking her words to heart and I am
going to act on that advice.
Then this morning I read
a blog post (which I pasted below) from my friend Jimmy Pena at PrayFit.com. He
titled it, "Now What?" and his words really inspired me to never make an excuse
again. He wrote, "Have you ever asked yourself that? If so, youre not
alone. Are you facing a now what moment? Maybe your health is
taking a wrong turn or the job you wanted is already filled. Whatever
youre dealing with, the next time you look up at the stars, think of
Abraham. When you run into a sea of obstacles and walls too tall to climb,
remember Moses and Joshua. Just like you, their question just before the
miracle was now what?"
Along with my "Share Your Faith and Gratitude" message board thread, I
will now devote myself to my other message board thread that I renamed, "Overcoming
Challenges and Struggles". I wrote on it today, "To the multitude of others
who woke up this morning to physical and emotional challenges, to despair and
hopelessness, there is a way and there is a life that lies ahead of you if only
you will seek it. I ask that you seek it with me. I have physical challenges
that are unprecedented in my life, but I will find a way to overcome them.
Emotionally I am strong because of the depth of my faith. I don't feel despair
or hopelessness because of it. But I understand how you could feel that way if
you have lost faith and you don't have someone to give you hope. Let me be that
person to lift you up today and every day. And perhaps the day will come, since
I don't know where my physical challenges and struggles will lead me, when I
will need to turn to you to lift me up and head me in the right direction
again. Together we will overcome whatever comes our way. Will you join me?"
Will you join me in a
real "challenge" group and we will achieve success together measured in our own
way? If you are interested and want to join,
