Facebook for Fitness!
First of all, I wanted
to thank everyone who showed up for the workout on Saturday and there were a
lot of you. That is not a time that I normally work out and doing a
P90X2
workout was challenging. But having so many Buddies accept my workout
invitation meant that I had to be there and that is the whole point -
accountability.
Have
you noticed that the Team Beachbody
community is just like Facebook for fitness? We have profile pictures,
Info, Wall posts in the form of our blogs or message board posts appearing on
the home page at Team Beachbody.com, Photos, we can Message each other and we
have Chat. The difference, though, is that Facebook is social media and Team
Beachbody is fitness focused. Be social on Facebook, but be fit and healthy on
Team Beachbody and go to the SuperGym, invite Buddies to your workouts, share
your results, share your successes and share your challenges to make our
community stronger, fitter and healthier.
If you didn't get a
workout invitation for Saturday, it may just be because I am a stickler for
details. John Foster Dulles said, "A person's accomplishments in life are the
cumulative effects of his attention to detail." Sorry, but I simply like to see
profile pictures and know who I am coaching. It gives me a greater sense of
connection to the person that I am getting to know and spending time with to
help them optimize their quality of life. Why not put a smile on your coach's
face and upload a photo (and get workout invitations in the future)!
A Word About Holiday Weight Gain
Don't. If you want to know why, here are
a lot of words to explain it in the newsletter article entitled, "8 Tips
for Avoiding the Holiday Pounds". Here's an excerpt, "According to a study
by researchers at Sweden's Linköping University, those 4 weeks of
celebrating can actually lead to long-term weight gain. Essentially, the researchers took a group of
healthy young people, increased their caloric intake by 70 percent, and lowered
their exercise levels. They also had a control group whose diets weren't
altered. At 4 weeks, the participants in the test group had gained an average
of 14 pounds. After 6 months, and no longer on an increased-calorie diet, only
a third of these participants had returned to their original weight. After 1
year, the test group members were each still an average of 3.3 pounds heavier.
After 2 and a half years, the "gluttonous" group continued to gain, while the
control group still maintained a stable weight."

Stupid, Arrogant or Defiant?
Doing
P90X2
P.A.P Lower was just a whim and I modified and did my best and got plenty sore.
But when Sunday morning came along, I just felt compelled to do another
workout. X2 Core was just as challenging and I love the new moves and the
technicality of the workouts. The P90X2 workouts seem very sports science
driven and make you feel more like an athlete in training that just going to
Tony's "gym" for a workout like P90X.
I thought that I would
share with you the message board post that I wrote with the title, "Stupid,
Arrogant or Defiant?" to explain my challenges and motives behind doing P90X2.
